WELD-UP
WHEELS:
We 'invented' the weld-up wheel; and, in order to make a great product even better, we have completely upgraded the tooling to widen wheels. By utilizing new machining and welding fixtures, we can offer a better product and better turnaround time. We can widen your 17" wheel to accommodate newer style rubber. Wheels can be widened by 0.75" minimum to 1.5-1.75" maximum without increasing diameter. If you would like to increase the diameter by 1 to 2", for additional cost we can often go as wide as 10-12" depending on wheel. We can also change the diameter. If you want to put an 18" slick on your 17" wheel, we can increase the width and diameter of your wheel. Minimum width increase on this modification is 0.75".
We are not responsible for any sub-sequential modifications such as chrome-plating, polishing, powder-coating, anodizing or any other sub-sequential finish applied to the wheel.
- WHL-WUP
- Base Price $425.00
- Add $70.00
for diameter increase
- Add $75.00
for asymmetrical offset
- Add $100.00
for additional width beyond 1.5",
subject to feasibility - typically requires a 1" increase in diameter
Here's how the Process works:
- Strip your wheel down and take off all removeable parts, including wheel
bearings. Wheels that are not received "bare" are subject to additional
charges.
- Box up your wheel, including a completed Weldup Form,
and mail to: Kosman Specialties, 7706 Bell Road, Windsor, CA 95492
- When we receive your wheel it is machined to remove the old flanges. New
flanges are machined from aluminum wheel blanks and mated to the stock wheel
center.
- The new flanges are then welded, inside and out, to the stock center. Note:
there is a visible weld bead (see images).
- We then check that the wheel is true, box up your wheel for shipment, charge
your credit card (as applicable) and send the wheel back to you via UPS.
Please include a completed Weld-up Order Form
when sending your wheel.
NOTE: Wheels must be straight and true before they can be widened.
We can not repair a bent wheel. We recommend The Frame Man in Sacramento, CA, at 916-920-1010.

We offer a choice of flange styles for most weldups we do. We have a standard stepped flange style, as well as a more modern looking flange with a smooth radius. Below there are pictures of representative wheel blanks for each style. Wheel blank availability varies over time as we demand the highest quality from suppliers, so these styles are subject to change without notice. Every attempt will be made to accommodate your flange style request, however due to the wide variety of OEM and after-market wheels available, it is possible that one or both styles will not be available for the requested widening. In that case, we will contact you with alternatives. NOTE: If no flange style is specified, Kosman Specialities will choose a flange style based on wheel blank availability, requested size, and other factors. If you have a time-critical project or other deadline, please contact us for availability and lead times. Kosman Specialties is not responsible for incorrectly specified or unspecified flange style. The workmanship on wheel widening work is 100% guaranteed, however, fees are non-refundable.
